Hartman’s Experimental Series #1 – Bourbon Aged in a Wine Barrel.

Yes, I know what all of you are thinking… “Guys, this is a bourbon, put it under the bourbon section!”.  While I can’t fault you for assuming that, this is considered a whiskey. We can go into more details on the bourbon page, but in order for something to be considered a bourbon, it has to be aged in a “New Charred Oak container” for the full maturation.  Since this whiskey was removed from the New Charred Oak container and placed into a Wine barrel, it can no longer be classified as a bourbon.
